Khristian Weeks: I am an artist and improviser working in the fields of sound, assemblage, and optics. My primary interest is in the process of discovery acquired through observation and experimentation. In addition, the use of chance and non-intention to produce spontaneous and unpredictable occurrences plays a fundamental role in my creative processes as well as in their realization. My sound work spans a wide range of genres, including musique concrete, sound installation, field recording, and electronic, electro-acoustic, and electro-mechanical improvisation. In addition to their sonic components, these works produce various kinds of movement, and reveal optical phenomena such as shadow, caustics, reflection, refraction, and projection. These pieces are presented in performance and in gallery spaces. In addition to my solo activities, I have created sound design in collaboration with dance, film/video and theatre artists.
