Khristian Weeks: I am an artist and improviser working in the fields of sound, assemblage, and optics. My primary interest is in the process of discovery acquired through observation and experimentation. My sound work spans a wide range of genres, including musique concrete, sound installation, field recording, and electronic, electro-acoustic, and electro-mechanical improvisation. While much of my work is sound-based, recent projects involve kinetic sculptural assemblage, constructed using ordinary, everyday household objects, though in unusual ways. In addition to their sonic components, these works produce and reveal optical phenomena such as shadow, caustics, reflection, refraction, and projection. These pieces are presented in performances and as autonomous installations. In addition to my activities as a performer, I have created sound design in collaboration with dance, film/video and theatre artists.
